Zhang underlined that the Kashmir issue is a dispute left over from the past and should be peacefully and properly addressed in accordance with the UN Charter, Security Council resolutions and bilateral agreement. It is the responsibility of the Security Council to help ease the tensions and properly resolve relevant issues. The international community remains highly concerned about the Kashmir situation, with the expectation that the Security Council should perform its own duties, according to the spokesperson.
"I myself was involved in dealing with many of the issues in Asia. I know China and all our neighbors just want to have normal, stable, friendly and mutually beneficial relations," Cui said in an online interview when he was attending the 2020 Aspen Security Forum on Aug. 4.
The cooperation between the two countries has never been a case of one party giving favor to the other, or one party taking advantage of the other, said Wang.
"I want to stress that many Chinese companies subject to U.S. unilateral sanctions are innocent, who just provide safe technologies and products," Wang said, adding that not a single cybersecurity incident like those revealed by Edward Snowden or WikiLeaks has ever occurred, and not a single tapping or surveillance operation like PRISM, Equation Group or Echelon has taken place.
Zhang said China is seriously concerned about the current situation in Kashmir and the relevant military actions. China opposes unilateral actions that will complicate the situation, and calls on relevant parties to exercise restraint and act prudently. In particular, they should refrain from taking actions that will escalate tensions, according to the spokesperson.
For instance, the ambassador said, China has already solved the border issues and concluded treaties with 12 of the 14 countries with which it has land borders.
